Spyker C8 Aileron

Manufacturer Press Release

Spyker C8 Aileron unveiledSpyker Cars, manufacturer of premium sport cars, unveiled its second generation C-line sports car at the Salon International de l'Auto in Geneva, Switzerland today: The all aluminium Long Wheel Base model is called Spyker C8 Aileron and will come with both a manual as well as an automatic gearbox.

Architecture

The Spyker C8 Aileron continues Spyker's signature architecture (applied since its inception in 2000 with the C8 Spyder) of a mid-engined configuration in an aluminium space frame, clad in aluminium body panels. The Spyker C8 Aileron's space frame is a development of the original space frame of the first generation cars: its torsional rigidity, however, was improved by 40% without adding any weight. Its dimension have changed though, the wheelbase increasing by 10 cm / 4.5 inches for improved road handling and more cockpit space. Also its front track was widened and as a result the car is virtually „square.

Design
Designing a successor of a first generation car is no mean feat. Spyker's design philosophy has always been to create timeless designs, contemporary but classic. In the first generation cars the leading design cues were Spyker's aviation and racing heritage. The propeller design consistently applied to many elements of the cars ( such as the Aeroblade wheels ) since 2000, was up for refreshment though: And in aviation the propeller engine was succeeded by the turbine engine so Spyker adopted the turbine as its "leitmotiv" for the Spyker C8 Aileron.
The signature Spyker polished air inlets in aluminium were converted into turbine engine shaped scoops reducing the "bling" element considerably, which reflects a trend Spyker sees in general: more sober designs, less exuberant. The scoops have polished alloy nacelles which may be colour coded with the interior as an option. The airflow around the car was redesigned so that the shark-like gills of the first generation cars (no less than 17 on a C8 Spyder) could be abandoned giving the Aileron a cleaner, smoother appearance.
The radiator opening was enlarged in anticipation of more horsepower requiring additional cooling. The mesh is V-shaped as on the first generation cars, a direct reference to the Spykers of the previous century, but angled forward giving the car a somewhat more aggressive stance. Also the headlight units were reshaped to follow the body design more closely. LED lights are incorporated in the units for indicators as well as Xenon lights (which are standard now).
The glass jet brighten inspired canopy, first introduced on the C8 Laviolette in February 2001, was extended backwards, reducing drag and increasing cockpit headroom. The signature air inlet atop the cockpit remained save that is now turbine shaped. With the increased wheelbase (10cm / 4.5 inches) the doors grew by the same length allowing for more comfortable in- and egress.Unfortunately practicality sometimes gains over design: The first generation cars have split side windows which were not optimal in terms of sealing (wind noise and water management). The Spyker C8 Aileron has single pane side glass that drops when the door is opened and closed, creating improved comfort level. The rear diffuser was redesigned for improved functionality. The redesigned rear lights are LED units. The outside mirrors were redesigned and the cone is mounted on two turbine fan blades, standard in body colour (but available in polished aluminium as an option)

Power train
The Aileron will continue to use the Audi 4.2 litre V8 giving 400 BHP. This state-of-the-art 5 valve 4 cam engine is now mated to a 6 speed Getrag manual or a 6 speed automatic ZF gearbox. This is the first time a Spyker is available with such an automatic gearbox as standard equipment.

Wheels and suspension
The Aeroblade ™ (5 propeller) wheels of the first generation cars are - logically - replaced by a 10 blade rotor wheel called „Rotorblade' ™. They come in 19" all round and are made in left and right hand turning versions. The Spyker C8 Aileron's suspension was developed from scratch and has double wishbones both front and rear. Shock absorbers are now placed vertically within the wishbones.(Carbon Ceramic )

Brakes
Brakes are supplied by AP Racing, a Spyker partner from day one. Colour coded callipers with Spyker script are available as an option. The Aileron is available with carbon ceramic brakes as an option as well.

Interior
The interior of all Spykers is clad in the highest quality leather the industry has on offer. The Dutch Tannery of Hulshof provides the six hides used for an Spyker C8 Aileron interior in 14 standard colours, which is fitted by Ellemeijer. Any other colour so desired by the customer is available as an option.Chronoswiss Dials are available as an option as well.

Manufacturer Press Release
Gemballa has come out with a new car based on the Porsche 987-C Cayman S, and to compare them one needs to look no further than the movie Twins.

The Cayman S is like Danny DeVito to Gemballa’s Arnold Schwarzenegger. Sure, DeVito’s character had redeemable attributes, but seriously, who would you pick in a race?Or a fight to the death, for that matter…The Gemballa GT 4.0L RS has a massive 4.0 liter engine, upped from the 3.4 liter capacity engine on the Cayman S. Silver-toned carbon fibre gives this tuner an exquisite look without making it look tacky, and new front and rear spoilers really do look nice.

Appearance aside, these three elements likely combine to really make the GT 4.0L RS stand apart from its Stuttgart-bred relative. 20-inch black racing wheels surround a huge, perforated disc brake system. Although the yellow brake calipers appear a little over-the-top when viewed individually, the car does benefit from a little bit of color. We said, "a little bit of color." Not the blinding yellow and black Alcantara and carpet interior. If there was anything wrong with this racehorse, its that inside it looks like a yellow dye-pack exploded in a bank robber’s high end getaway car.

Nonetheless, we wish we could take a more critical look at the car, but Gemballa has provided no specs or pricing for the vehicle. Currently, the Gemballa GT 4.0L RS is not featured on the US, UK, and Aussie web sites of the company. But you can see a little more of the car at gemballa.com.

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti One-to-One (2008) - Pictures and Wallpapers

Lamborghini Reventon (2008) - Pictures and Wallpapers

The Lamborghini Reventón has been entirely designed in Sant'Agata Bolognese, the original birthplace of the Lamborghini and the native home of every super car born under the sign of the bull. The design drawn up in Lamborghini's Centro Stile (Style Centre) is fine-tuned in close collaboration with the Lamborghini Research and Development Department. Thus, the Reventón is not only "haute couture" but it also stands out for its elevated dynamism whilst being entirely suitable for every day use.
The Lamborghini Reventón is not destined to remain a one-off. A total of 20 Lamborghini friends and collectors will be able to own this extraordinary car and, naturally, enjoy the incomparable pleasure of driving it.
The name Reventón has been chosen according to Lamborghini tradition. Reventón was a fighting bull, owned by the Don Rodriguez family. It is included in the list of the most famous bulls ever and is known for killing the famed bullfighter Felix Guzman in 1943.
Inspired by the fastest airplanes
The present day Lamborghini models are distinguished by the clear language of their shape. The coherent proportions of the Murciélago and Gallardo highlight their power and dynamism. Sharp edges, precise lines and clean surfaces: these are ingredients of a style reduced to the essential. Each element is created exactly according to its function; ornaments and decorations are totally foreign to a Lamborghini.
With the Reventón the Centro Stile designers have coherently developed this philosophy, inspired by another sphere where speed and dynamism reign absolute: modern aeronautics, responsible for the fastest and most agile airplanes in the world. This has created an extremely precise, technically striking style with a new vitality: interrupted lines and contorted surfaces create a fascinating play of light, giving the car incredible movement.
Made of carbon fibre and precision
Although it is based on the extraordinarily successful Murciélago LP640, the exterior design of the Reventón is completely new. Just like the base model, the exterior is made of CFC, a composite carbon fibre material, which is as stable as it is light. The exterior components are glued and fixed to the body comprised of CFC and steel.
The front is characterised by the acute angle of the central 'arrow' and by the powerful forward-facing air intakes. Although they do not supply air directly to the turbine like an airplane, bearing in mind the 650 hp, an abundant volume of air is necessary to cool the carbon brake disks and the six cylinder callipers.

2008 Bugatti Type 12-2 Streamliner Concept Design by Racer X Design

(from Racer X Design) Type 12-2 ‘Streamliner’

A few months ago Racer X Design released the sketches of the KC-427, which is currently being built and expected to be shown as a fully built car by the end of the year. The streamliner is not intended for production, and is just one of the many designs that Racer X Design have come up with.Designed as an example of a luxurious four seater GT, the type 12-2 is the artwork of Reuben Zammit. The aim was to get the type 12-2 immediately recognizable, yet make a signature of it’s own for a specific marquee. A classic front engine rear wheel drive layout. The shape allows for a boot bigger than its rivals, yet keeping the lines flowing. The doors take a large part of the side and the roof for easier access.
The idea is to use a VW derived W12 engine with a twin turbo layout hence the name 12-2. Although not as extravagant as the W16 used in the Veyron, there would be enough power to propel the Type 12-2 to over 200 mph.Racer X Design is a company that has designed and built some of the best show cars in the business winning first place awards in the XLR-8 live competition every time it competed with 4 different demo cars in 2 different classes for bodystyling. “We are now offering various design services ranging from show car design to full concept car design to any individual whether he needs to modify a car for competition use, or companies looking for a design that can meet their needs.”

2008 IMSA Lamborghini Murcielago GTR

World exclusive: (from IMSA Press Release)

The brand new imsa technical and aerodynamic-enhancement program for the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Imsa, the world-acclaimed, German High-Tech Engineering specialist, exclusively presents, after successfully introducing the stunning imsa GTV Supercar based on all versions of the Lamborghini Gallardo, its new technology and design-enhancement program for Lamborghini’s current top-of-the-range supercar, the Murcielago LP640.

Special emphasis must be laid on the technology- and design-package made from Autoklav moulded carbon fibre. Technology which is normally only being used in Formula 1 and other Top-motorsports Series. Imsa’s main target was, for all owners of the Lamborghini top-of-the-range-model, to offer an exclusive product line, transforming the Murcielago both technically and optically into a unique work of art, with the aim of significantly enhancing the exclusivity of Lamborghini’s Top-model. The strikingly aggressive and aerodynamically highly effective front apron (spoiler) perfectly aligned to the wheel arches (widened 35mm on each side), directly becomes apparent.
On the upper side of the wheel arches, imsa CFK air ducts have been integrated, resulting in a significant reduction of the drag effect caused by non-aerodynamic airflow at higher and highest velocity. The imsa side-skirts on the underside guarantee the optimum airflow to the imsa diffuser, which has been developed for an aerodynamically perfect interaction with the imsa rear spoiler. Imsa herewith achieved to considerably lower the downforce at higher and highest speeds. The benefits for the driver are a significant enhancement of driving stability, safety and enjoyment.

All parts of the imsa-aerodynamic-enhancement program are either available in carbon-onsight or can be painted in any colour of choice. The imsa aerodynamic-enhancement-program is available from November 2007 on and will soon be available for the “standard” Murcielago as well. The imsa technical enhancement program also includes – exactly as for the imsa GTV Supercar based on the Lamborghini Gallardo – exclusive imsa multi-part sports wheels with central locking system, various sports chassis with individual settings, and, last but not least, various imsa engine modifications and own engines. At imsa, each customer is fully involved in the creation of his personal, unique imsa-Megacar handcrafted according to highest German standards of quality and precision. Additionally, personalised tailor-made interiors inclusive of various multi-media applications are also being fitted on special request.

Alfa Romeo Mi.To (2009)

An up-to-date and innovative car, a name redolent of history.

The name Mi.To has great evocative resonance for Alfa Romeo, since it was chosen as a sign of a deep-seated link between the past and future of the brand: between Milan, the city of design that brought the car's style into being, and Turin, which will be responsible for its industrial production.

A decision that highlights the brand's strong desire to consolidate its Milanese roots. The Alfa Romeo Mi.To is the first car to be built since the 8C Competizione, Alfa Romeo's icon of style and technology, from which it borrows certain characteristic traits: the particular shape of the unframed side windows, the three-lobed motif that distinguishes the front bumper, the shape of the headlights and the LED tail lights.

The highly personal dashboard and seats ensure that the interior represents the ultimate expression of Italian style, welcoming yet sporty, with top-quality materials and the closest attention to detail. The headlights and tail lights represent a distinctive personalised feature: a frame featuring different forms of material processing and colours to create an ultra-stylish eye-liner effect that underscores the car's style and aggression.
